In 2024, we launched the JPCPHS (Japanese Pulmonary Circulation and Pulmonary Hypertension Society)–ToMMo Biobank Project in collaboration with the Japanese Pulmonary Hypertension Society and the Tohoku Medical Megabank Organization, aiming to collect lung transplant specimens from patients with pulmonary hypertension (serving as the principal coordinating institution and administrative office). Through this initiative, we are establishing a national platform to collect these invaluable lung transplant samples and to develop innovative research projects in collaboration with participating institutions.
In the field of clinical research, I serve as the coordinating office for the Group 2 Pulmonary Hypertension cohort of the Japan Pulmonary Hypertension Registry (JAPHR), one of the official registries endorsed by the Japanese Pulmonary Circulation and Pulmonary Hypertension Society, with the goal of generating robust domestic evidence.
In addition, I serve as Vice Representative of PH48, the early-career researchers’ group of the Japanese Pulmonary Circulation and Pulmonary Hypertension Society, fostering a collaborative research network that extends beyond individual institutions.
Through nationwide research efforts, we aim to advance innovative and high-impact studies to better understand pulmonary hypertension, a disease whose pathophysiology remains incompletely elucidated and whose prognosis remains poor.
